I think that people who take chances make mistakes move on to new ideas are the real intellectuals. As long as a person is growing and courageous enough to step forward and say "i was wrong now I understand why and i don't care what the price I will not continue in something I know is wrong out of fear" than their on the right track.

Dear Adela
by compound complex indear adela,.
i thought you so very much an english lady of refinement and poise that i am beside myself over this turn of events vis-a-vis your current infatuation.
it is, without question, out of character for you to behave in a manner that flies in the face of convention and our british social mores.

Will you attend the Kingdom Hall for a funeral of parents who are still JW's? If not, do you tell them beforehand?
by ThomasCovenant ini was recently talking to an ex witness whose elderly parents, and in law parents, are still witnesses.. as shocking and incomprehensible as it may seem to both sets of parents, this ex witness believes that, just like every other human throughout human history, they are going to die.
now this ex witness has expressed to me that he won't ever step foot in a kingdom hall again.. he is in a dillemma as to what to do about their funerals.
he does not want to attend any service held at the kingdom hall as the service will be heavily controlled by the seven members of the governing body that reside in brooklyn and who don't know his parents at all.. he is quite willing to stand outside the hall, or attend the crematorium or gravesite or funeral home and also any wake that takes place afterwards as people are more free to express themselves in a less formal setting.

If their playing the shunning game, they should know the rules and accept them. As far as I,m concerned their on their own they choose the organization and that's what they get.

Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing
by metatron inin today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.

Sometimes when I hear that people keep trying to stay in contact with their jw relatives as if their doing the noble thing. i think it just encourages them to keep up their stance they think if you grovel back to them you might come back.
It's best no matter how difficult to let them experience the pain of their choice, they started it by shunning you to make you come back so make sure they know you never will and say good bye and never look back
Let them never entertain even a brief hope of your return so they can feel the full force of "jehovahs love" and what it requires.

what a wonderful day
by jean-luc picard inmrs picard and i have both got the week off, so we have decided to spend the day on the hollodeck.. breakfast in bed, followed by a long walk in the countryside.. not a cloud in view.. salad lunch in the garden ( some of our firsthome grown produce of the year), along with a generous glass of red wine.. then a siesta in the hamack.
its a double hamack, but mrs picard declined to join me, prefering reading her new novel.. i didnt sleep, but lazily watched the comings and goings of the birds nesting in the trees above my head, the insects, and the sunlight flickering through the leaves.. to top it all, mrs picard has offered to take me out to the restaurant this evening.. if there is a god, i'd like to publically thank him for this wonderful day, and present my excuses for not going out in field service for the last 15 years.. and, in the words of karen carpenter, in one of her songs:.

You'll lose your life and that of your children if you don't come back
by truthseeker init was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

Many years ago I was at a door it was my turn and i gave my spiel and the person was serious faced and said "i don't want anything" so I just said ok and the person with me was strangley quiet
after we left she said to me " he was pointing a gun at you" I never saw it so I was just saying my stuff no fear or nervousness.
